Resilient DC Open House – Ward 1

Mayor Bowser established the Resilient DC initiative to build DC’s resilience to both catastrophic shocks and chronic stresses in order to ensure that DC thrives in the face of change. This includes being resilient to major changes in the economy, technology, and climate. We are making progress in our work to develop a DC’s first resilience strategy and want to update you on our work. To that end, the Office of the City Administrator is hosting open houses in each Ward to share the work done to date and hear your ideas on how we can make DC more resilient.

Region Forward Coalition Meeting

Resilient DC will speak at the next Region Forward Coalition meeting. Region Forward is COG's vision. It's a commitment by COG and its member governments, who together seek to create a more prosperous, accessible, livable, and sustainable metropolitan Washington. The purpose of the new Regional Forward Coalition is to oversee the next steps recommended in Region Forward and advise the COG Board on future comprehensive regional planning and implementation activities.

Energy, Resources and Environment Practicum Presentation: “Cities as Innovation Centers: Investing in Resilient Infrastructure”

Resilient DC will join Johns Hopkin’s Energy Resource and Environment Program for a presentation by its Practicum team followed by a panel discussion. This presentation and panel discussion will identify traditional barriers to investing in resilience and investigate best practices for implementing resilience. The research focuses on coastal cities: communities that are most vulnerable to climate change, but hold the greatest potential to develop innovative solutions.
